AARP Driver Safety is celebrating Older Americans Month by offering a $5 online course to AARP members and non-members from May 1 through May 31, 2013. The course normally costs $15.95 for AARP members and $19.95 for nonmembers.
Earth Day events at the Dayton Garden Station saw all of its beds prepared for planting. Last year a crew of AARP volunteers built nine raised vegetable beds at the Dayton Garden Station and now they are ready to claim for the season.

In 2011, Cincinnati AARP member LaDonna Pope inspired the creation of neighborhood “giving gardens.” Today, several neighborhoods have giving gardens -- where AARP members and community gardeners work together to grow fresh produce for nearby homebound seniors.
AARP volunteers are at the Ohio Statehouse today, meeting with their state legislators about issues that matter to midlife and older Ohioans, and their families. Among the issues our citizen lobbyists are discussing with elected leaders is Gov. John Kasich’s proposal to expand Medicaid to cover midlife Ohioans who have lost jobs or are working in low-wage jobs without insurance coverage.
