Crypto ATM fraud is on the rise. AARP has successfully backed new laws to protect consumers in at least 14 other states and is pushing for similar legislation in Indiana.
New Jersey groups have received 47 grants totaling more than $586,000 since the AARP Community Challenge program began in 2017. These quick-action projects focus on livability, improving infrastructure and creating gathering spaces.
Jan Wilberg worked for decades in social service agencies and as a nonprofit consultant before retiring in 2018 to spend more time as a volunteer with various Milwaukee organizations. She received the 2024 AARP Andrus Award for Community Service, the state’s top volunteer honor.
AARP awarded more than $88,000 in grants to eight nonprofits and governments across Oregon.
Two AARP Community Challenge grants helped develop a new plaza with a monarch butterfly statue to let community members relax, socialize and hear each other’s stories.
Research that shows only about half of those 50 and older have a will. AARP is helping South Carolina residents organize their affairs early-on.
There are around 60 AARP Texas volunteers who use their voices and lived experiences to drive change at the local, state and federal levels. And AARP is looking for more Texans to join them.
In August, 1.2 million New Yorkers were more than 60 days behind in their utility payments, owing $1.8 billion. AARP NY supports two bills that call for stronger and more accessible consumer representation.
During the 2026 legislative session, which begins in January, AARP Maine and its volunteers will be working in person at the State House as well as virtually on issues important to residents 50 and older.
AARP Community Challenge grants will help improve sidewalk mobility, improve public spaces and prepare for emergencies.
