The 2025 Colorado legislative session has concluded, and AARP Colorado’s nonpartisan advocacy efforts helped achieve several significant victories for older Coloradans. This year’s legislative advocacy focused on four key areas: financial security, housing, fraud prevention and health care. Additionally, AARP advocates worked to mitigate a budget shortfall’s impact on older Coloradans.

A new AARP survey, released in conjunction with Social Security’s 90th anniversary, confirms that Americans highly value Social Security, and even more so than five years ago. The vast majority of Americans – 95% of Republicans, 98% of Democrats, and 93% of Independents – consider Social Security vital to the financial security of all Americans, and 67% believe it is even more important for retirees than it was five years ago.

Social media sites like Facebook, Twitter and Instagram provide a convenient way to connect with friends and family. It is important to remember that scammers also use these platforms to find victims. Scammers often create fake profiles and pretend to either be someone you know, someone you want to know or an entity you trust. Because there are fake profiles it is difficult to know who you can trust. The following are some red flags that you might be targeted by a scammer on Facebook or other social media platform:

There are moments within the caregiving experience after which everything changes. A game changer. A tipping point. This is often an unwelcome, unanticipated wake-up call that requires a response from caregivers and care receivers—a change in plans or perhaps an increased level of care. While tipping points come in a variety of guises, all tipping points precipitate a caregiving crisis that necessitates a change in the plan of care.
The Colorado Public Utilities Commission upheld the recommended decision of Administrative Law Judge Conor Farley in the Xcel gas rate case, which lowers what the company, also known as Public Service Company of Colorado, can bill consumers for natural gas.
