The decision to go back to school as an adult isn’t easy or always the right choice, but the number of students at secondary education institutions across the country who are over 50 is becoming more the norm than the exception.
AARP Connecticut has selected seven awardees for its second “Livable Communities Grant Program” dedicated to fund quick-action projects in Connecticut communities that will help make immediate improvements or jumpstart long-term progress that will support residents. AARP Connecticut funded four projects last year, the first of the program.

In advance of the September 10 primary, Bridgeport residents are invited to hear the five 2019 mayoral candidates discuss their positions on the issues that affect their families and community at the free 2019 Bridgeport Mayoral Forum at The Klein Memorial Auditorium on Wednesday, Aug. 21, at 7 p.m.
A growing demand for new skilled workers to meet the needs of a resurgent manufacturing industry –estimated at 25,000 to 35,000 positions for the state’s 4,100 manufacturing companies in the next two decades – is outpacing the supply, which has created an increasing need for instructors.
AARP Connecticut State Director Nora Duncan provided the following statement in regards to the passage of the state’s two-year budget:
