This month brings a wealth of important updates, particularly for older Floridians, as the 2025 Florida Legislative Session kicks off. AARP Florida released its 2025 legislative priorities, emphasizing the importance of accessible housing options for all ages, the need to enhance long-term services and supports, and increase consumer protections as top priorities for the AARP advocacy team and volunteers. Understanding these key issues is crucial for staying engaged and advocating for policies that make a positive difference.

AARP Florida publicó sus prioridades legislativas para 2025, destacando la importancia de opciones de vivienda accesibles y asequibles para todas las edades, la necesidad de mejorar los servicios y apoyos a largo plazo, y el aumento de las protecciones al consumidor como principales prioridades para el equipo de defensa y los voluntarios de AARP.
Sabemos que construir grandes comunidades requiere tiempo. Pero también creemos que las mejoras tangibles pueden generar cambios a largo plazo. AARP lanzó el programa de subvenciones Community Challenge en 2017 para financiar proyectos que impulsen el progreso hacia una mayor habitabilidad en todo el país. Nos complace anunciar que el programa regresa por el noveno año y actualmente está aceptando solicitudes en línea hasta el 5 de marzo de 2025, a las 5 p.m. ET / 2 p.m. PT.
En diciembre de 2024, Florida Power & Light (FPL) notificó a la Comisión de Servicios Públicos de Florida (PSC) su plan de presentar una solicitud formal para establecer nuevas tarifas una vez que su acuerdo actual de tarifas base concluya a finales de 2025. Se espera que la solicitud formal se presente el 28 de febrero de 2025 o cerca de esa fecha. Mantendremos a los consumidores informados durante todo este proceso.
