AARP is launching a nationwide movement, I Am A Caregiver. To many lawmakers, America’s millions of caregivers are invisible. Yet, these family caregivers hold up a broken long-term care system, which is why AARP is looking for your help.
AARP North Carolina is working to make it easier for residents to get advance directives in place on how they want to be cared for during a serious illness. “Advance care planning empowers individuals to make their own important health care decisions while they are still able, bringing peace of mind to individuals and their families,” says Virginia Slocum, executive director of the North Carolina Serious Illness Coalition.

The 2023 hurricane season begins June 1 and ends November 30, but already predictions are it will be an "above average" season. Colorado State University's annual outlook calls for 13 named storms and six hurricanes. Two of those hurricanes are predicted to be major. Despite that, they say this will be a “slightly below-normal” Atlantic hurricane season.
A proposal submitted by the Tenney-Lapham Neighborhood Association (TLNA) in Madison to add benches and more fruit plants to its popular Reynolds Community Food Garden has been selected to receive this month’s AARP Wisconsin “Small Dollar, Big Impact” grant.
