Throughout 2022, AARP DC and its 83,000 members advocated on behalf of all District residents for policies that help empower people to improve their lives and choose where and how they live as they age. There were significant victories both nationally and locally here in the District.

It’s easy during these last busy shopping days before Christmas to be distracted and scam artists are especially hoping to catch you off guard during this time of year. They hope that you won’t think twice if you see a text message or email asking you to click on a link because a package wasn’t delivered or get a deal on social media that seems too good to be true.

Dr. Heisung Lee Receives 2022 Andrus Award for Community Service

Mike Cussen of Paso Robles is the recipient of the 2022 AARP Andrus Award for Community Service in California.

AARP Connecticut submitted to the Public Utilities Regulatory Authority (PURA) a petition that was signed by thousands of Connecticut residents in the 17 towns serviced by United Illuminating Company opposing the utility provider’s request to implement a rate increase on the regulated delivery portion of electric bills. This will significantly raise the cost of electricity for Connecticut ratepayers, who already pay the highest retail electricity price in the continental United States, by nearly 15% over three years. If approved, the rate increase would be in addition to a significant increase in the cost of deregulated supply that will take effect on January 1, 2023.
