RALEIGH -- May is Older Americans Month and the state budget proposed by Governor Roy Cooper reflects some of the important needs of our growing population of older adults. Many will credit an added focus on aging to North Carolina’s changing demographics where there will soon be more older residents than young.
The Indiana General Assembly concluded this short session and adjourned Sine Die, with both chambers burning the midnight oil until approximately 1:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 9th.

AARP’s mission is to empower people to choose how they live as they age, and an important part of choosing how we live as we age is being able to choose where we live as we age. Most older adults want to remain in their own home and community as they age, but financial barriers and limited service options can make this difficult. We were pleased that the Connecticut legislature passed a state budget and several pieces of legislation that will support older adults who wish to age in place.
AARP is excited to announce that a compromise has been reached on hero pay for frontline workers, and the Governor signed it into law on May 3, 2022.
