AARP Volunteer Robert Smith of Franklin was honored during the Governor’s Traffic Safety Advisory Commission (GTSAC) annual awards presentation at the Kellogg Hotel and Conference Center on March 22 in East Lansing for his dedication to the AARP Driver Safety Program.

Drivers should be aware of age-related changes that can affect their ability to stay safe behind the wheel – including general fitness, strength, flexibility and vision. Adjusting your vehicle to your changing needs can also enhance safety and comfort.

AARP Washington would like to say thank you our outgoing Driver Safety State Coordinator, Gordon Olson. Gordon steps down from the top volunteer leadership role after serving two four year terms, managing 130 volunteers in Washington State.

It’s been many years since most residents got their driver’s license. Yet, the driving experience is significantly different from even a decade ago—changing vehicles, changing technology, changing road rules, and even changing roadways. Residents can refresh their skills and have the opportunity to save money on their car insurance with the AARP Smart Driver™ course being offered at the AARP Vermont offices at 199 Main St 2nd Fl. in downtown Burlington. The class runs from 9 am – 1:30 pm. Public parking is available under the building.

Volunteers are the face of AARP in the community. AARP Mississippi is honored to have so many talented and skilled individuals who have expressed an interest in giving back to their communities. We are preparing volunteers and equipping them with the tools they need to volunteer locally.

As we start a new year, it's only natural to reflect on all that we accomplished in 2016, and turn our attention to what we hope to accomplish in 2017.
