November is National Caregivers Month. Caregivers help make it possible for older Americans and other loved ones to live independently at home—where they want to be.
Steve Polston – who has spent years helping the homeless in Lexington – is the 2015 winner of the AARP Kentucky Andrus Award for Community Service. And the New Life Day Center, a non-profit facility founded by Polston, is a big winner too – earning a $2,000 check from AARP Kentucky.
AARP recently conducted a survey of Tennessee adults ages 18 and older who indicate they intend to shop for gifts and services as part of a holiday celebration during the months of October, November, and December. The survey explored how much they knew about avoiding holiday scams, which behaviors they engage in that might put them at risk and whether they experienced any stressful life events that could make it difficult to resist swindlers in the marketplace.
The Pathway to Financial Security (aka "Financial Resilience") program held on Nov. 10, 2015 in Kansas City, MO attracted nearly 100 members and guests who sought to learn how to plan for a secure financial future. Presented by AARP Missouri and co-sponsored by Waddell and Reed and the Urban League of Greater Kansas City, the event was held in the Polsinelli Law Firm Conference Room from 6-8 p.m. The evening commenced with registration and a networking/catered refreshment period; hostesses for the event were members of the Mu Omega Chapter, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.
Variety and AARP are excited to partner for the inaugural Variety and AARP Movies for Grownups Screening Series. This series will combine the Variety Screening Series with AARP’s renowned Movies for Grown Ups series to showcase the most anticipated films of the year, each campaigning for the most coveted awards for cinematic achievement.
