The state Legislature gets back to work March 5, and AARP Alabama is ready to advocate on many issues important to people 50 and older.

Older adults consistently show up at the polls in higher numbers than other age groups, and this week’s Chicago Mayoral election was a prime example, according to AARP-Illinois, a non-profit, non-partisan organization that works to improve the lives of those 50+ and their families.

AARP Mississippi invites Jackson residents to raise their voices on issues that are important to them. The Jackson Age-Friendly survey is an opportunity to speak up on issues that affect Jackson residents of all ages.

AARP Connecticut State Director Nora Duncan provided the following statement in regards to Governor Ned Lamont’s budget proposal:

The New York City Public Advocate special election is on Tuesday, February 26, 2019. AARP NY met with the candidates to get their take on important issues that affect New Yorkers including people age 50 and over.

Voters age 50 and older were the deciding factor in last year’s midterm elections, according to the National Election Pool Exit Poll results. The findings confirmed that 50-plus voters made up the majority of voters 62% in Ohio and 56 percent nationally. Candidates who ignored older voters, Ohio’s most powerful voting group, paid a price on Election Day.

In Georgia, an estimated 626,070 people, or 25 percent of the rural population, are without access to 25 Mbps/3 Mbps internet service. This lack of high-speed internet, or broadband as it is commonly referred, can have a lasting impact.
