AARP is challenging utility rate increases and fighting to ensure that utility companies receive only what is fair and reasonable – and not a dime more.
AARP, along with other community-based organizations, applaud the efforts of Missouri legislators and Gov. Jay Nixon to fund the Utilicare program this year. This program helps thousands of Missourians with critical funding needed to help pay utility bills. This year, according to the National Climatic Data Center, energy demand was 27 percent higher than average this winter.
Reducing the risk of cardiovascular disease, high blood pressure, diabetes and other debilitating ailments is the goal of the “Get Off the Couch!” six-week walking program sponsored by the AARP Kansas City Team and the Kansas City Parks and Recreation Department. The program is free, open to the public, and all ages are welcome to participate.

It turns out it’s not just what you do on the online, but your life experiences off-line that can make you an easy target for scammers.

“Don’t Gamble With Your Health!” – a new free program that will focus on personal health awareness – is scheduled for March 25 through May 6, 2014 at the Saint Francis Medical Center Health & Wellness Center, 150 S. Mount Auburn Rd. in Cape Girardeau. From 10 a.m. until 11:15 a.m. during the six week period, individuals will participate in weekly challenges around health topics and exercises. On four Tuesdays during the six week challenge, four group gatherings are planned with a special focus on personal health awareness topics led by experts:
