AARP’s Livable Communities Council, the Center for Planning Excellence and the Lt. Governor’s Office are seeking nominations for the 2014 Great Places in Louisiana awards program.

AARP Louisiana and Delgado Community College are hosting a job fair for individuals 50 and older who are looking for employment opportunities at the College. Currently Delgado is hiring child care assistants, adjunct faculty and administrators.

AARP Louisiana and the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) are teaming up to help aspiring entrepreneurs get started growing a new business or making an established one more successful at Encore Entrepreneur in Baton Rouge and New Orleans.

Azalea blooms remind me of my grandmother who loved tilling in the soil and watching the fruits of her labor….literally. Her fig trees were enormous! One of my fondest memories is waking up on a warm Saturday morning at her house and grabbing a big bowl to pick fresh figs for breakfast. There’s nothing like fresh picked fruits and vegetables.
