Indianapolis, IN – A new AARP study identifies an online victim profile based on 15 key behaviors and life experiences that increase a person’s vulnerability to online fraud. The report, “Caught in the Scammer’s Net,” surveyed more than 11,000 people nationally and 562 in Indiana. According to the survey, 978,598 Internet users in Indiana may be at increased risk of being victimized based on this new profile.
On Wednesday, January 8, 2014, Curt Sylvester of Ft. Wayne participated in the graduation ceremony for the inaugural class of AARP’s Volunteer Leadership Institute or VLI. Unfortunately, due to the inclement weather, Curt did not physically attend the event, but watched via Skype. He was one of only 22 volunteers from all across the country selected for this program. Curt is also the state president of AARP Indiana, the organization’s top volunteer leadership position.
Local lawmakers will be returning to the Indiana Statehouse in early 2014. And, we will be ready! Drawn from all walks of life and every corner of the state, AARP Indiana’s volunteer Legislative Team carries our message directly to the Statehouse throughout the legislative session. Team members are trained on the issues, the legislative process and AARP’s priority legislation. They also build crucial personal relationships with lawmakers from their districts in order to advance the interests of older Hoosiers.
