Greenville – Spartanburg (GSP) Sister Veterans invites all women in the area who served in the military to a luncheon Thursday, March 19. GSP Sister Veterans will hold monthly meetings where members can share stories and learn about veterans’ benefits. The goal of these monthly meetings is not only to develop friendships, but celebrate and honor the past and future of these service women.

“Stand Down at the Beach” is this Friday, September 19 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. in Myrtle Beach at the U.S. Army Reserve. The event aims to help homeless Veterans and Veterans receive services and resources such as food, shelter, clothing, health screenings, VA and Social Security benefits counseling and referrals for other services, such as housing, employment and substance abuse treatment.
In just one week, more than 40 federal, state, and local resource organizations and service providers will come together for "Stand Down at the Beach." AARP South Carolina, Veteran’s Welcome Home Center, Palmetto Goodwill and Myrtle Beach Harley-Davidson are the primary sponsors of the event. Stand Down at the Beach will be held on Friday, September 19, 2014 from 8 a.m. until 2 p.m. at the U.S. Army Reserve, 3392 Phillis Boulevard.
Ovarian Cancer Coalition of Central South Carolina invites you to its annual Whispers Butterfly Release set for September 9, 2014 at the South Carolina State House grounds (Gervais St. side) beginning at 5:30 p.m. The event promotes awareness of the whispering symptoms of ovarian cancer through the release of hundreds of butterflies in recognition of September’s National Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month.The evening will also include inspirational speakers and live music.
