In West Virginia and most other states, the deadline to file a 2015 income tax return is Monday, April 18. If you are unsure about how to proceed, AARP Foundation Tax-Aide can help. The program—which has assisted more than 50 million U.S. taxpayers since 1968—is open to everyone, although priority is given to low- to moderate-income people age 50-plus.

In a recent AARP survey, Burlington voters 45 and older shared opinions and concerns about what it’s like to live there. The survey addressed issues such as housing, transportation, mobility and community engagement. AARP Vermont is sharing the results with city officials, planners, developers and policymakers to develop recommendations that could make Burlington more livable for residents of all ages.

The Old Dominion is getting older. Nearly a fifth of Virginia residents will be 65 and older by 2030, according to the federal government, and about 250,000 will be 85 and older. That’s why AARP Virginia wants members to know about SeniorNavigator, a nonprofit organization that provides free, useful information for older Virginians, people with disabilities and family caregivers.

Alzheimer’s disease is devastating, and family members who care for people with dementia face particular stress. They may feel they are “running a marathon without ever seeing the finish line,” said Lisa P. Gwyther, associate professor at Duke University Medical Center and cochair of the North Carolina Task Force on Alzheimer’s Disease and Related Dementia. “The burden can be great, information insufficient and doubt overwhelming.”

To help the state’s vibrant and growing Hispanic population access news they can use, AARP Connecticut is expanding its Spanish-language content online, on the air and at local events.

Protecting telephone landline service and expanding options for retirement savings will top the list of issues to be discussed when AARP staff and volunteers meet with legislators on Monday, March 28, at AARP Maine’s annual Day at the Statehouse.

The nation’s capital is home to more than 75,000 family caregivers, who provide $870 million worth of unpaid services annually for their parents, spouses or other adults. Caregiving can be especially daunting when a loved one needs medical attention at home.
