AARP Louisiana is encouraging Bayou Staters to protect themselves from scams by using free resources available through the AARP Fraud Watch Network. Anyone can sign up for real-time alerts on the latest scams, get tips on how to stop them and report their own experiences for a nationwide scam tracking map.
Caring for frail or ailing loved ones carries a high cost, both in hours spent tending to their needs and in the emotional and physical toll on family caregivers. AARP Georgia will address these issues at a statewide conference, The Cost of Caregiving, on May 15 in Atlanta.
Reversing the oft-held belief that an aging population is a burden, a recent report shows Alabamians age 50-plus make up 35 percent of the state’s population but account for 42 percent of its economic output.
The AARP state offices in Michigan and Ohio are encouraging members who care for an aging parent or other loved one to share their stories with millions of other people who perform the same important work and may need advice or a sympathetic ear.
