ALBANY, N.Y. - AARP New York and the Public Utility Law Project (PULP) today voiced strong opposition to a proposal from utility regulators and NYSEG/RG&E to raise the utility companies’ rates and enact other measures over the next three years.
Juneteenth, an annual holiday commemorating the end of slavery in the United States, has been celebrated by African-Americans since the late 1800s. But this year, following nationwide protests over police brutality and racial injustices, there is renewed and more widespread interest in this day that celebrates freedom.To bring perspective to this 155-year-old celebration, here’s a message from AARP’s Regional Vice President, Rawle Andrews Jr.
