This year marks a powerful milestone: 90 years of Social Security. Since President Franklin D. Roosevelt signed it into law on August 14, 1935, Social Security has been a cornerstone of economic security - ensuring Washingtonians can retire with dignity, supporting people with disabilities, and providing vital income after the loss of a loved one.
The 2025 Colorado legislative session has concluded, and AARP Colorado’s nonpartisan advocacy efforts helped achieve several significant victories for older Coloradans. This year’s legislative advocacy focused on four key areas: financial security, housing, fraud prevention and health care. Additionally, AARP advocates worked to mitigate a budget shortfall’s impact on older Coloradans.
AARP Texas is urging the Public Utility Commission of Texas to take action to protect vulnerable residents during extreme heat.

The AARP Smart Driver Course is a driving refresher course that features research-based curriculum. The six-hour course is now the nation’s largest driving refresher course designed for drivers age 50.
