LOS ANGELES – AARP California is proud to continue the Andrus Opportunity Award Scholarship, which honors the legacy of AARP founder Dr. Ethel Percy Andrus through. Each year, the Andrus Opportunity Award Scholarship will provide $5,000 in financial assistance to a graduating senior who demonstrates academic excellence, leadership, and a strong commitment to community service. The award is funded by a $50,000 grant, which will help fund the scholarships for the next ten years, ensuring lasting support for students.
With Iowa’s state legislative session set to kick off on Monday, Jan. 9, AARP is inviting members to make their voices heard on issues that affect the quality of life for older adults.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, Seattle’s age-friendly initiative helped Emerald City residents remain connected by hosting more than 50 virtual events. Collectively, they were viewed more than 12,000 times.
