People of all ages will take to San Jose's streets on Sunday, May 19, for Viva CalleSJ day. Participants will set out on bikes, skates, skateboards, scooters and walking shoes to enjoy six miles of traffic-free streets, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
AARP Iowa is taking a road trip to the Charles City Challenge Whitewater Festival for a day on the Cedar River at Iowa's first whitewater park. Named "Outstanding Event" by Iowa Tourism, the festival is now in its eighth year features kayak and tube events on the water as well as fun on the shore in a beautiful setting! Activities include disc golf, public art, walking trails, vendors, food and more.
Florida voters age 50-plus strongly support a Florida legislative proposal to import FDA-approved prescription drugs from Canada and other countries to help lower costs. Some 73 percent of 50-plus voters, including two-thirds of Republicans, support the plan, a new AARP survey shows.

Tallahassee, Fla. – Florida Governor Ron DeSantis and AARP CEO Jo Ann Jenkins announced Tuesday that the State of Florida has joined the AARP Network of Age-Friendly States and Communities, a move hailed by AARP as a major step toward making Florida even more livable for people of every age.

The AARP HomeFit program was developed to educate attendees on how to navigate all living spaces independently to allow them to remain in their own homes as they age. Participants receive information on how to easily evaluate their own home for “livability” should they themselves or one of their family members become unable to use stairs, or must rely on assistive devices. It is designed help individuals plan for independence, choice, and dignity as they age.
