You don't have to sweat it out this tax season. If you are a Nebraska resident, AARP Tax-Aide can lend you or your loved one(s) a helping hand depending on where you live in the state.
At AARP Connecticut, our focus remains on helping state residents age 50+ be the very best they can be! Through our legislative advocacy, we focus on critical issues such as Social Security, financial security (retirement), protection against utility rate increases, and caregiving services and supports. In the community, we offer a variety of programs and events that help people age 50+ discover the real possibilities available to them. Some of these programs include:
The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) offers a host of benefits to military veterans. But the system can be difficult to navigate, and many Americans who served their country aren’t getting the benefits they earned.
AARP New Mexico is working with state lawmakers to ensure adequate funding for services that help people continue to live at home as they age, rather than moving into nursing homes or other institutional settings. Such services include home-delivered meals, group meals at senior centers, transportation and respite for family caregivers.
Motorists may pose safety risks to themselves and others if their vehicles don’t fit them well.
The flu can keep you in bed for days, and for the elderly, very young children and people with low immunity, it can be a killer. That’s why AARP is working with the Virgin Islands Department of Health and other agencies to hold daylong immunization fairs. The events offer free flu shots and shingles vaccinations for senior citizens, grandparents raising grandchildren, and others at risk.
As utility companies continue to ask the state Public Service Commission (PSC) to approve rate hikes, AARP Missouri is asking that customer charges be capped. These monthly fixed fees—included in every residential customer’s bill—disproportionately penalize those who use little electricity.
In a tourist area like the Virgin Islands, where millions of people visit annually, Virgin Islanders are always at high risk for acquiring the latest version of influenza going around. And, influenza is known to be a rapid killer of those who are elderly, very young or immunosuppressed.
