AARP Indiana is asking legislators to ease the burden on family caregivers and is calling on caregivers to help with advocacy by sharing their stories.

Ron Yaden of Tacoma has been honored with the 2014 AARP Washington State Andrus Award for Community Service. Ron is extraordinarily dedicated to helping his community here in the Northwest and personifies the dedication of our AARP volunteers.
Sidney McCarther of Kansas City was selected to participate in AARP’s Volunteer Leadership Institute or VLI and graduated from the program Dec. 10 in Washington DC. VLI is a rigorous and innovative year-long training program designed to elevate highly skilled and motivated AARP volunteers to the next level of volunteer leadership. (S/he) will be joined by 33 other exceptional AARP volunteers from across the country, who will meet both in person and virtually throughout the year to build their leadership strengths in one of three chosen “tracks” – advocacy, community outreach or external representation.
Kathleen “Kathy” Brewer of DeRidder, Louisiana has been selected by AARP, the nonprofit organization for people 50 and older, to receive the 2014 AARP Louisiana Andrus Award for Community Service -- the Association’s most prestigious and visible state volunteer award for community service.
