The 26th annual Sun Valley Jazz & Music Festival is Oct. 14-18, and AARP members have an opportunity to buy discount tickets to the popular event. More than 40 bands featuring 200 musicians will take the stage in 11 venues, performing various styles of jazz, as well as big band swing, western swing, zydeco and blues. The event also includes four dance competitions and small-group dance lessons.

You may be a boomer, but that doesn’t necessarily mean you’re done with school. Now, at AARP Mississippi’s Boomer University, you can learn how to make the next phase of your life happy, healthy and secure.

Hunger among adults 50 and older is a largely invisible but growing problem in the Twin Cities. To help keep the shelves of food banks stocked, AARP and Second Harvest Heartland are hosting happy hour beer tours at local craft breweries.

The Nevada Ballet Theatre is offering AARP members discount tickets to select performances of several shows, including the cherished holiday classic, The Nutcracker, which sells out every December.

About 1.1 million New Jerseyans are providing unpaid care to loved ones. These caregivers have rights under a new state law, and AARP New Jersey is distributing a handy pocket card with the details.

AARP is hosting a road show through western Maryland this fall, offering information and fun for members en route. Events include a scenic mountain train trip departing from Cumberland on Oct. 1 and celebrating family caregivers on board.

Elder abuse is an underreported crime, and the AARP Legal Counsel for the Elderly (LCE) wants to stop it.
