For some, this holiday season brings the excitement of shopping, cooking, and gift-wrapping. For others, this holiday season is a precursor to the hefty credit card statement or empty wallet.
With the holiday giving season approaching, a new survey from the AARP Fraud Watch Network found that 62% of South Carolina consumers failed a quiz about how to stay safe from common holiday scams, and many are regularly engaging in risky behaviors which could leave them at risk of being victimized by con artists.
About 51 percent of Kentucky’s private sector employees—approximately 795,000 people—don’t have access to a retirement savings plan at work, and many are only one crisis away from draining their savings. That’s why AARP Kentucky is urging lawmakers to pass a bill that would create a state-facilitated retirement savings plan.
More than half of private-sector employees in Utah don’t have access to a retirement savings plan at work, and many reach retirement age without enough savings. That’s why AARP Utah is working with lawmakers and business and labor groups to draft a Work and Save bill. If passed, the legislation would create a state-facilitated retirement savings plan to help such workers prepare for the future.
