In a victory for consumers across the state, AARP Nevada and hundreds of volunteers helped stop a recent proposal to bring a new surcharge to Southwest Gas customers. The Southwest Gas proposal for Gas Infrastructure Replacement - an accelerated replacement of aging gas lines - required extra payments from residential customers before the work was completed, or even started - the equivalent of ratepayers giving a loan to the utility company to complete its work.

With a July 1 nomination deadline approaching, AARP Iowa is encouraging Iowans to take a few minutes to nominate an outstanding 50+ Iowan for the 2014 AARP State Andrus Award for Community Service, making them eligible to receive $1,000 to award to the charity of their choice.

AARP's new annual experience, Ideas@50+ is heading to San Diego from September 4th through the 6th and we're looking for volunteers! The three day event features celebrity speakers and entertainers, workshops, concerts, and a huge exhibit floor.

AARP is now accepting nominations for its 2014 New Mexico Andrus Award for Community Service, which honors 50+ volunteers who are sharing their experience, talent, and skills to enrich the lives of their community members.

AARP Washington is seeking nominations for the 2014 AARP State Andrus Award for Community Service. The association’s most prestigious volunteer tribute recognizes outstanding individuals who are sharing their experience, talents and skills to enrich the lives of others. If you know of an outstanding volunteer, we want to hear about them!

The Greater Richmond Association for Volunteer Administrator (GRAVA) Conference is Virginia’s premier gathering of volunteer and service leaders from the nonprofit, corporate, and local government sectors. Non-profit professionals are invited to the 2014 GRAVA Volunteerism Professional Development Conference in Richmond, July 10.

People who sign up to volunteer with AARP Experience Corps are finding themselves back in the classroom. And they are loving it.
