Many older West Virginians struggle with hunger, yet may not realize they are eligible for help with grocery costs. With a grant from the U.S. Department of Agriculture and the Walmart Foundation, AARP is working with Catholic Charities West Virginia (CCWVa) to identify people who are eligible for benefits from the federal Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP).

AARP Maine has relocated to Portland’s historic downtown area and will host a celebratory open house on Sept. 3 from 2 to 7 p.m. The festive event will feature refreshments, live music and conversation.

AARP is hosting a series of Life Reimagined events statewide to help Bay Staters pursue a lifelong dream or make a major change in their life via small steps.

AARP New Hampshire is offering a money management workshop in Concord to help people who are worried about mounting debt, poor credit or lack of savings.

AARP Mississippi is celebrating passage of the Caregiver Act, which took effect July 1. The law allows hospital patients to designate a family caregiver and requires the hospital to notify the caregiver before the patient is discharged or transferred to another facility.
