As of November 1, 2025, millions of Americans—including many older adults—may not receive their monthly food benefits through the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) due to the ongoing federal government shutdown. This disruption affects individuals living on fixed incomes, many of whom rely on SNAP to afford groceries and maintain their health.

On January 22-23, come enjoy the true story of one woman’s journey from teenage songwriter to the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in the inspirational play that takes you on a musical journey of all her pop classics and timeless hits, including “You’ve Got a Friend”, “One Fine Day”, “Up on the Roof”, “You’ve Lost That Lovin’ Feeling”, “Will You Love Me Tomorrow”, and “Natural Woman”.

Burt Freeman of Manhattan was presented Monday with AARP’s most prestigious volunteer award for community service. Freeman, who founded the My Own Book program, has been selected by AARP New York, the nonprofit organization for people 50 and older, to receive its 2018 Andrus Award for Community Service.
