In the first statewide meeting of its kind, AARP North Carolina held a "Volunteer Jam," bringing together over 200 active volunteers to celebrate their achievements and to inform them about key issues that affect the lives of AARP members and communities in the state.
AARP Florida has presented Crystal River resident Ruth Levins with its 2012 Andrus Award for Community Service, the organization’s top volunteer honor for the year.
Barbara Scope Hair, a native Washingtonian and retired federal government employee of 40 years, is the 2012 Andrus Award recipient for AARP District of Columbia. In addition to volunteering with the AARP DC State Office Ambassadors, she assists with events such as the annual Drive to End Hunger in DC food drive. At the chapter level she has planned group travel and programs for meetings of her chapter, the Anacostia/Bellevue/Congress Heights AARP Chapter #4870.
Former AARP State President Diana "Dee" Hatch received the Andrus Award for Community Service at the AARP Volunteer Jam in Durham. Dee's distinguished community service and devotion to AARP has helped improve the lives of older adults in North Carolina.
ReServe Maryland is helping continuing professionals age 55+ reinvest a career's worth of skills to strengthen their communities. ReServe Maryland connects the state’s nonprofits and public institutions (partners) to experienced professionals 55+ (ReServists) who want to give back. In exchange for a stipend paid by the partner organization, ReServists in Maryland work in a variety of capacities – from infrastructure to direct service – to help organizations stay on mission. ReServe Maryland supports its partners in building a stronger and more vibrant Maryland.
At age 70, Clarence “Tiger” Davis shows no signs of slowing down. Indeed, he is as active as ever taking on the responsibility of becoming AARP Maryland’s State President in April of 2012.
