AARP is launching a nationwide movement, I Am A Caregiver. To many lawmakers, America’s millions of caregivers are invisible. Yet, these family caregivers hold up a broken long-term care system, which is why AARP is looking for your help.
November is Family Caregiving Month and Military Family Month. As a family caregiver, you may be responsible for managing and administering lots of medication. If you have medications in your home that are no longer needed or expired, AARP Long Island encourages you to dispose of them safely this November.
A free workshop will help caregivers with loved ones with dementia better understand the condition and learn skills to deal with challenging behaviors. The in-person workshop, sponsored by AARP Hawai`i, will be held on July 1 from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Windward Community College's Akoakoa room.
