On the night of Sine Die, AARP Maryland advocacy volunteers are celebrating a slew of legislative victories during the 2019 General Assembly Session, including measures to promote affordable prescription drugs, protect nursing home patients, support veterans and combat energy rate hikes.
The Volunteer Portal is undergoing a bit of a facelift during 2019! The refresh will create a more visually appealing user experience and allow for enhancements to key features – some in response to your feedback. Staff users have been using the new look and feel since March 24. Staff users have already realized the time saving benefits and new features highlighted in the testimonials below. The new look and feel will launch for volunteers on August 5, 2019.

This annual award recognizes individual members who have performed outstanding community service activities. AARP is seeking a group of exceptional leaders for a critical role as a Champion for the Volunteer Portal. Champions will be key partners to the project team and Program Leadership to ensure that the Volunteer Portal meets the needs of users and prepare colleagues and volunteers for the changes that will be required in how they do their work within the Volunteer Portal.
According to a recent AARP Iowa 2019 Age-Friendly Online Survey_cedar rapids deck (002) , nine out of 10 say that the city rates “good” or better for aging in place in the community. In addition, 88 percent of survey respondents expressed that aging in their own homes is either “very” or “extremely” important to them. AARP Iowa released the full results of the survey today, and held an open discussion with approximately 50 local residents about the livability of Cedar Rapids, at the Cedar Rapids Downtown Library, 450 5th Ave. SE.
