AARP Iowa appreciates the leadership and service John and Beverly McCartney of Fort Dodge have provided to the AARP Iowa state Executive Council since 2009, and will continue to provide through the completion their term in 2015. WASHINGTON, D.C. — Members of Congress, including U.S. Rep. Kathy Castor, D-Tampa, joined leaders from the employer, health care, venture funding, entrepreneurial, and consumer advocacy communities today for a discussion on the challenges facing—and potential solutions for—the 40 million Americans who provide care for their parents, spouses/partners, and other loved ones. The “Forum on Family Caregiving: Perspectives from Policymakers and Thought Leaders” was convened by AARP as part of its ongoing work to support family caregivers.

AARP California's Jennifer Hopson is this week's special guest on "Real Life." Jennifer talks about some of the exciting programs and the work of AARP in the Golden State. Whether it is getting people moving and active through a new walking club, helping family caregivers through informational outreach and some pampering, protecting people from fraud, or getting people better prepared to meet the financial demands of retirement, AARP is helping people live the lives they want to live. AARP is also working hard in California to make communities more inclusive to the 50 plus population.
Since 2010, the owners of Cabot Creamery Cooperative have presented the Cabot Community Celebrity Award program to honor the achievements and contributions of volunteers from every part of our great nation. The program continues in 2015 with an Eastern Caribbean Cruise that honors more than 50 new Community Celebrities. AARP Experience Corps Evansville long-time volunteer Eric King has been selected as one of this year’s “Community Celebrities.”
