Team up with the Miami Dolphins, AARP and AARP Foundation’s Drive to End Hunger to pack one million meals for hungry older adults in Southern Florida on September 20, 2014 at Sun Life Stadium. You’ll spend a couple hours alongside some of your favorite Dolphins alumni players, cheerleaders and TD. And as an added incentive, the Dolphins will be raffling off some great prizes! Meals will benefit Feeding South Florida.

When Idalia High retired from a lifelong career of teaching in 1987, she was far from finished when it comes to working to improve her community. Since that time, she has volunteered with AARP and others to raise the profiles of the local services offered to seniors by both public and private organizations including the Wilson County Department of Social Services.

We will never forget the terrible tragedy of 9/11, nor will we forget the tremendous out-pouring of caring, compassion, service and hope that followed.

September is right around the corner, which means Stand Down at the Beach is less than a month away! The event is set for Friday, Sept. 19, 2014 held in the U.S. Army Reserve building at The Market Common in Myrtle Beach from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. Stand Down is an event to provide services to homeless Veterans and Veterans such as food, shelter, clothing, health screenings, VA and Social Security benefits counseling and referrals to a variety of other necessary services, such as housing, employment and substance abuse treatment.

Are you looking for an opportunity to get involved in your community and give back through volunteering? AARP Foundation Tax-Aide, the nation’s largest free, volunteer-run tax preparation and assistance service, is seeking volunteers across the state to help Connecticut taxpayers who will need assistance preparing and filing their 2014 tax returns.
