As more people discover that North Carolina is a great place to age and to retire, they are also finding AARP as a way to take better charge of their future health and economic security.
“After being hospitalized five times in two years, I understand how lonely it can be, especially around the holidays. As a volunteer with The Holiday Project in Fredericksburg, I visited with nursing home residents during the holidays as part of a team. It was inspiring.”
As I approached becoming an empty nester 18 years ago, I began working on an MBA in Nonprofit Management while managing a Creative Kidstuff toy store. While it’s a great company with a strong mission, I knew that retail sales was not the best match for me. I celebrated my graduation in 1999 by taking my two daughters on a trip to Italy. On Thursday, the Senate and Assembly gave preliminary approval to two bills that would expand Medicaid (known in California as Medi-Cal) to more than a million low-income Californians. AARP Wyoming has been very blessed to work with some incredible volunteers over the past 11 years we’ve had a state office in Wyoming. We would like to highlight some of these volunteers, so you too can see just how fortunate we really are. We plan to highlight one of our volunteers who serve in various volunteer positions and different places around the state each quarter.

Led by enthusiastic local coordinator Peggy Wood, these folks are smart, dedicated, and committed to helping those in the South End community.
